Andorra is one of Europe's hidden gems, and just a short bus trip from the continent's highest capital city, Andorra la Vella, you'll find a cable car offering one of the most breathtaking Alpine vistas imaginable. The best part is that it's not crowded with tourists.
Encamp is a small village - charming and historical, yet still a village. However, the cable car at the town's edge takes you on a 25-minute journey through stunning natural scenery to the Grandvalira ski resort of Funicamp. At the end of the ride, you'll find yourself on soft ski slopes with incredible views. The mountains and valleys extend before you, both in the neighbouring district of Canillo and in Encamp itself. In the summer, it's lush and green, ideal for hiking. In winter, it's a brilliant snowy white, perfect for skiing.
Andorra may be one of the world's smallest micro-nations, but its natural beauty is truly impressive.

How to get there
The most well-worn and convenient route is from Barcelona Airport, although most bus routes in Barcelona also stop at bus stations in the centre of the city (Sants, Nord and Diagonal). There are also bus stops that connect with Andorra in Llieda, Reus and Toulouse. There are no train stations or airports in Andorra.

How we did it
Flights: EasyJet from Glasgow to Barcelona.
Hotel: Acta ArtHotel
Transport: DirectBus to Andorra from Barcelona Airport, AndBus from Andorra to Barcelona, Bus.Ad for the bus from Andorra la Vella to Encamp.

Our top tips
Bus fares in Andorra can only be paid in cash (Euros) and foreign currency exchange commission in Andorra is very high, so bring Euros into the country, don't exchange currency there.
If you plan to ski, buy a ski pass when you buy your ticket for the cable car as they are not sold in Funicamp.
Andorra is a mountainous nation, so temperatures can be 10-15 degrees colder than in Barcelona.
